defender\u00e1 posici\u00f3n ante EE.UU. en consultas sobre ma\u00edz biotecnol\u00f3gico<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21c5ce2b class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\">La mexicana Secretar\u00eda de Econom\u00eda (SE) inform\u00f3 este viernes que &#8220;defender\u00e1&#8221; la postura del Gobierno de M\u00e9xico en las consultas sobre ma\u00edz biotecnol\u00f3gico solicitadas por Estados Unidos.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>En un comunicado, la SE indic\u00f3 que el Gobierno de M\u00e9xico recibi\u00f3 este d\u00eda una solicitud por parte de la Oficina del Representante Comercial de Estados Unidos (USTR).<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Esto para iniciar consultas al amparo del cap\u00edtulo 31 (soluci\u00f3n de controversias) del Tratado entre M\u00e9xico, Estados Unidos y Canad\u00e1 (T-MEC), referentes al Decreto del 13 febrero de 2023, en el que se establecen diversas acciones en materia de glifosato y ma\u00edz gen\u00e9ticamente modificado.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Seg\u00fan el reporte, la USTR argument\u00f3 que &#8220;ciertas disposiciones de dicho decreto afectan las importaciones de ma\u00edz de Estados Unidos a M\u00e9xico&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Ante ello, la SE dijo que, junto con otras dependencias del Gobierno mexicano, demostrar\u00e1 con datos y evidencia que el uso exclusivo de ma\u00edz nativo para la masa y la tortilla &#8220;no tiene afectaci\u00f3n ni inter\u00e9s comercial para Estados Unidos&#8221;, dado que M\u00e9xico &#8220;produce el doble de ma\u00edz blanco del que destina a la tortilla, nada menos que la base alimentaria de los mexicanos&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>A\u00f1adi\u00f3 que en la medida en que esta disposici\u00f3n fomenta que M\u00e9xico preserve su producci\u00f3n con semillas nativas, &#8220;se abona en el cumplimiento del cap\u00edtulo ambiental del TMEC, en el cual los tres pa\u00edses se comprometieron a cuidar la biodiversidad&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>La dependencia mexicana se\u00f1al\u00f3 que gracias al nuevo decreto, la Comisi\u00f3n Federal para la Protecci\u00f3n contra Riesgos Sanitarios (Cofepris) &#8220;ha estado en posibilidades de autorizar nuevas semillas de ma\u00edz biotecnol\u00f3gico y revaluar negaciones previas&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Adem\u00e1s, dijo que &#8220;debe remarcarse que el ma\u00edz importado de Estados Unidos es complementario y se destina al uso industrial y a la alimentaci\u00f3n de animales&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Tambi\u00e9n apunt\u00f3 que si bien el decreto plantea que la industria y el sector forrajero &#8220;transiten de usar ma\u00edz gen\u00e9ticamente modificado a ma\u00edz no gen\u00e9ticamente modificado, esto no significar\u00e1 restricciones al comercio, como se se\u00f1ala en la solicitud de consultas de USTR&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>La SE mexicana dijo que la transici\u00f3n se dar\u00e1 gradual y sosteniblemente, fortaleciendo la competitividad y productividad del campo mexicano en pleno respeto a los compromisos internacionales suscritos por M\u00e9xico.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Apunt\u00f3 que en las consultas que est\u00e1n por iniciar, M\u00e9xico ratifica su compromiso de fomentar un di\u00e1logo constructivo a trav\u00e9s del cual se aclaren las inquietudes de Estados Unidos y se alcance &#8220;un acuerdo mutuamente satisfactorio&#8221;.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Este viernes, Estados Unidos present\u00f3 formalmente una solicitud de consultas con M\u00e9xico en el marco del T-MEC sobre ma\u00edz gen\u00e9ticamente modificado.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>El 7 de marzo, el presidente de M\u00e9xico, Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez Obrador, se dijo dispuesto a ir a un panel de resoluci\u00f3n de controversias para defender que no se importe ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico para consumo humano.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>La controversia surgi\u00f3 el a\u00f1o pasado por la intenci\u00f3n del presidente mexicano de vetar las importaciones de ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico estadounidense para 2024 porque lo considera da\u00f1ino.<\/p><p style=\"line-height: var(--wp--typography--line-height, var(--global--line-height-body));\"><br>Tras negociaciones, el Gobierno mexicano suspendi\u00f3 la prohibici\u00f3n de importaciones de ma\u00edz transg\u00e9nico para el ganado, pero mantuvo el bloqueo al de consumo humano.<\/p><p
